Types of Bathroom Vanities

A bathroom vanity is a piece of furniture that combines a sink and storage space. With an almost endless variety of styles, colors, and materials, you’re sure to find a vanity that suits your taste. Not only do vanaties add functionality, but they also serve as a visual anchor to the design scheme of a room. Replacing a dated vanity can add value to your home and provide much-needed storage space.

Bathroom vanaties are versatile and functional. While pedestal sinks are fine for small bathrooms with little traffic, if you have a large family, you may want to consider a built-in vanity. This type of unit can accommodate more storage and countertop space than a freestanding one. The most common types of sinks are undermount sinks and drop-in sinks. Undermount sinks sit beneath the counter while drop-in sinks have their edges on the countertop. Some bathroom vanities even come with built-in hampers, a phone charger, cubbies for rolled towels, and a pull-out step stool.

Pedestal sinks are perfect for bathrooms with limited traffic, but many people prefer modern, streamlined vanities. Corner bathroom vanaties can be an elegant solution if space is at a premium. Wooden bathroom vanaties can be very beautiful but are quite expensive. A wood vanity should be treated with a protective layer to prevent warping in humid environments. On the other hand, if you want a cheaper, more practical option, choose medium density fiberboard (MDF), which is made of plastic and laminate. These are water-resistant and easy to clean.
